Laces are used for a multitude of uses. You will surely be surprised by all the laces that you have at home and that you had not even noticed them. We are going to see 5 types of laces of the most used and what they are used for.
-The golden cord. It has an ornamental use. It is usually used, in its very thick versions, to collect curtains and in the thinner versions to make finishes. These finishes can be seen on cushions, blankets, bedspreads and also on the curtains themselves. For a while, they stopped being a trend, but with the return of vintage and the fashion of metallic tones, they have been seen again in many homes.
-The shoelace. Who doesn’t have lace-up sneakers or military boots? Both types of footwear are on trend and have in common the use of laces to adjust. The lacing allows you to wear the tightest or loosest footwear, something very useful if you wear it with different types of socks or if your foot does not fit well in standard measurements. This gives an extra comfort to the foot. But they also have their decorative role and that is why we find boots that look laces but have a zipper that makes it easier to use them.
-Electrical cords. They are a much more flexible type of cable whose coating has a textile appearance instead of the typical plastic one. This flexibility makes them very practical, especially when it comes to long cords that can be rolled frequently, since they will not break as easily as the more rigid plastic ones. An example is extra-long charger cables with cord instead of cable.
-Elastic shoelaces. They have a great multitude of uses. We can find them in the cuffs of many garments to make them fit more closely to the skin, but being able to graduate how much. This is the case of sports garments, since in this way the flights in the legs or in the fabric of the sleeves that can get caught during sports are avoided, causing an accident.
-Cords for jewelry. They are used in the manufacture of all kinds of bracelets and necklaces and also to set different pieces. They are widely used for summer casual jewelry, but the cord as a crimp piece is found even in high-end jewelry to join necklaces and bracelets.
